SCOUT BADGES / GROUP TUTORIAL |
Scouts can earn their horse badges at Taylor Turn Stable individually or in a troop field trip. Individuals will earn their badge by attending regular lessons or setting up specific dates for lessons to earn their badge. Troops/Groups can take a field trip to our facility as well. On troop/group days 3 hours will be dedicated to learning about horses and riding them. For individuals all you need to do is set up a time to take lessons. Group, semi-private, and private lessons will cover all the information required for the badge in four lessons. Check out the lessons page to read about what else can be learned in our riding program and the cost. Troop/Group leaders can set up an afternoon for the entire troop to visit the facility to earn their badge. It will take three hours to cover each badge. In those three hours our trainer will be talking about all the different aspects to meet and exceed the badge requirements. Suggested knowledge to be covered but not limited to; care of the horse and facility, what to look for in a facility, parts of tack and horse, types of riding, jobs in the equine field, safety, where one could find horses their community, proper mounting and dismounting, basic riding, and much more. Students of Taylor Turn are asked to help demonstrate some of the required fields such as different events while riding that would be found in a horse show. The minimum troop age recommended is 8 years of age. We ask for as much notice as possible before planning on scheduling the group/troop days. Cost for groups or troops: $125 for 4-10 people attending $15/per person (over 10 people attending the session) |
